Human beings, animals and birds feel quite uncomfortable. Trees and plants wither. Of course the morning hours are not so hot. With the noon approaching it becomes more and more hot. People dare not go out of their houses after ten in the morning. Extreme heat causes more sweating. Summer boils appear in different parts of the body.

In this season wells, ponds and rivers dry up. In some of them the water level comes down. Animals and birds do not get sufficient drinking water as water evaporates quickly. The problem of drinking water is accute in this season. Fans, coolers and air conditioners are very often used. People feel like dying when there is a power cut or power failure.

Lotus, jasmine and some other flowers blossom in this season. Fruits like mangoes, pineapples and jackfruits ripen in this season. The festivals observed in this season are Shreeram Navami, Maha Visuba Sankranti, Akshaya Trutiya etc. The peasants start ploughing their corn-field and sow seeds towards the end of this season.

Although this season has some disadvantages, it is welcomed in most places. The main reason behind it is that this season brings rain. Due to extreme heat water evaporates and there are clouds in the sky. These clouds cause continuous rainfall during the later days. All the creatures get new life when the rainy days follow the summer season.
