Odisha CM Majhi launches projects worth Rs 580 crore in Bolangir

Today marks a historic turning point for Western Odisha. On April 25, 2026, during the state-level celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day in Balangir, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled a massive development package worth ₹580 crore.

This initiative is set to transform the socio-economic landscape of the district, focusing on industrial growth, healthcare, and rural empowerment.

1. Major Industrial Announcements

In a move that will generate thousands of local jobs, the CM announced two mega-industrial hubs:

New Sugar Mill: Reviving the industrial heritage of the region.

Textile Park: Positioning Balangir as a hub for garment manufacturing and handloom export.

2. Healthcare & Education

A significant portion of the foundation-laying ceremony was dedicated to the Nursing College at the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital. This will boost medical education and provide better healthcare staffing for the district.

3. Rural Governance & Housing

• Panchayati Raj Samikshya Portal: Launched to ensure 100% transparency in how village funds are used.

• Antyodaya Gruha Yojana: Work orders distributed to over 50,000 beneficiaries.

• Piped Water Mission: The CM reiterated the goal to provide piped water to every household by March 2027 with a state-wide investment of ₹54,000 crore.
