କାଳିଆର ଭକ୍ତ ଓ ଏକ ଅନାଥର କାହାଣୀ
ଗୋଟିଏ ଛୋଟ ଗାଁରେ ମାଧବ ନାମକ ଜଣେ ଭକ୍ତ ରହୁଥିଲେ। ସେ ପେଶାରେ ଜଣେ କାଠ ଶିଳ୍ପୀ ଥିଲେ। ମାଧବଙ୍କ ସଂସାର କହିଲେ କେହି ନଥିଲେ, କେବଳ ତାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ନିଜ ହାତରେ ତିଆରି ହୋଇଥିବା ପ୍ରଭୁ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କର ଏକ ଛୋଟ କାଠ ମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ହିଁ ତାଙ୍କର ସବୁକିଛି ଥିଲା । ସେ ସେହି କାଳିଆ ଠାକୁରଙ୍କୁ ନିଜର ସନ୍ତାନ ପରି ସ୍ନେହ କରୁଥିଲେ, ତାଙ୍କ ସହ କଥା ହେଉଥିଲେ ଏବଂ ନିଜର ସୁଖ-ଦୁଃଖ ବାଣ୍ଟୁଥିଲେ ।

ଦିନେ ଗାଁରେ ଏକ ଦୁଃଖଦ ଘଟଣା ଘଟିଲା। ଜଣେ ଗରିବ ଲୋକର ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ହେବା ପରେ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନେ ତାର ଶବକୁ ଶ୍ମଶାନକୁ ନେଇଯାଉଥିଲେ । ଏହି ଦୃଶ୍ୟ ଦେଖି ମାଧବଙ୍କ ମନରେ ବୈରାଗ୍ୟ ଆସିଲା। ସେ ଭାବିଲେ, "ଏହି ଦୁନିଆରେ ସବୁକିଛି କ୍ଷଣସ୍ଥାୟୀ। ଆଜି ଅଛି, କାଲି ନାହିଁ । ତେବେ ମୋ ପରେ ମୋର ଏହି କାଳିଆକୁ କିଏ ସେବା କରିବ?" ଏହି ଚିନ୍ତାରେ ତାଙ୍କ ଆଖିରୁ ଲୁହ ଝରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲା ।
